That is certainly a big claim to make and we wouldn't ordinarily do so, given the abundance of choice there is to stay in McLaren Vale but we are certainly thrilled about being now consistently ranked by travellers on Tripadvisor as the number 1 accommodation for the McLaren Vale wine region.
What can you expect at Karawatha Cottages?
At Karawatha Cottages you can choose from three luxurious, yet welcoming and comfortable cottages (UNWIND, RELISH and PONDER), providing you with space and everything you can possible need for a few relaxing days or a week away from it all.
What makes each of our cottages unique are subtle changes in style to give each cottage it's own character, but also minor differences in amenities and more obviously, they are different in size. The Unwind
One Bedroom Cottage

The perfect escape for a romantic getaway. It may be the smallest of our cottages but offers all the same luxurious amenities, plus a vine covered elevated deck.

Cheese Platter
Cheese & Wine - in our opinion always a perfect match!
In particular after a day of wine tasting and a long lunch in one of our many outstanding restaurants, sometimes all you need for a leisurely evening on the deck is a platter of cheese to indulge in and reminisce about your wine discoveries of the day.
Our personally curated cheese platters include a generous selection of three local cheeses (subject to availability), crackers and a range of accompaniments.
Available as a platter on it's own or together with a bottle of local bubbles, for those special occasions.
Make sure to add it as an extra as part of your cottage booking.

Our home away from home
My wife and I have now stayed at Karawatha Cottages five times and experienced each of the cottages. We would not contemplate staying anywhere else.
The kitchen set up allows for ease of movement and is so functional. The bathroom is superb and spotless, showers are most enjoyable. Very comfortable bed.
A fantastic decking area where we spend a lot of time, having our breakfast, watching the beautiful birds and admiring the view. We love enjoying a cheese platter and wine in the undercover bbq area. It’s a wonderful space. You could well be in rural France or Florence.
We walk the area of Blewitt Springs, visit Geddes next door for a chat with winemaker Tim, visit the Beresford Wine Estate a bit further down the road for mezes and wine sampling. Walk to the fruit/vegie cart in Ted’s front yard on Blewitt Springs Rd for his home grown vegies and fruit.
