When planning to create our boutique accommodation for McLaren Vale, our aim was to offer our (future) guests a welcoming retreat from every day worries, an abode that has all the luxury amenities but still makes you feel right at home the moment you walk inside; a place to escape to, that shows the best of the beautiful McLaren Vale wine region and seems to be far away from everything - yet is so close that you can actually walk to several of the outstanding wineries and restaurants of the region (which we found to be actually very rare for McLaren Vale).
We are encouraged by our guest feedback and by being consistently ranked by travellers on Tripadvisor as the number 1 accommodation for the McLaren Vale wine region, we are encouraged to be on track with what we hoped to achieve.
Our Cottages
At Karawatha Cottages you can choose from three luxurious, yet welcoming and comfortable cottages (UNWIND, RELISH and PONDER), providing you with space and everything you can possible need for a few relaxing days or a week away from it all.
What makes each of our cottages unique are subtle changes in style to give each cottage it's own character, but also minor differences in amenities and more obviously, they are different in size. The Unwind
One Bedroom Cottage

The perfect escape for a romantic getaway. It may be the smallest of our cottages but offers all the same luxurious amenities, plus a unique vine covered elevated deck with stunning views

Best Stay in South Australia
I searched high and low for this boutique accommodation as it would be the last 3 days of our two week stay in South Australia. I love finding places where the owners have a good eye for design and add touches to make your stay that little bit extra special. Our generous breakfast was included and a complimentary bottle of wine from the cellar Geddes next door. The firewood was replaced every day and timely as it does get cold end June. Georg was the perfect host. Very knowledgeable on the region and happy to help out. We highly recommend any of the cottages for that special stay.
